Caring for America Projects

SUPPORT OUR TROOPS:   Our goal is to show our service personnel that the Citizens of these great United States of America support them and in particular, that their hometowns value their service to our Country.  One of our efforts is to identify military units in which a local Corona or Norco resident is serving, and send their units care packages.  Currently, we are sending boxes to troops serving in Afghanistan and Iraq. To achieve this goal we have decorated containers and have placed throughout our communities, to collect donations.  At present, the CNRWF is sponsoring 4 units.

Since 2008, thanks to community and club member donations, we have mailed approximately 100 boxes per year to local service men and women deployed in harms way.  We hope to increase this number by 50% in 2011.

We need your support!  (See our Donations Page for items the troops need!) If you can support our troops or know of anyone soon to be deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan, contact our club President or the committee chair Denise Marquez.

SUPPORT A MILITARY FAMILY:  CNRWF is donating two $100 grocery gift certificates to a family (or families) with a mother or father serving overseas. One gift certificate will be provided at Thanksgiving and another at Christmas. Additionally, CNRWF will have an “Angel Tree” for the family (or families) selected. The family will identify requested items and those will be represented as an ornament on the tree. Individual donors will select an ornament and purchase the item for later delivery to the family for Christmas. With your generous support, the Angel Tree Project has been a great success over the years.

Through the generosity of our club members, the community, and local vendors, we were proud to support three military families in 2010.  We look forward to continuing this outreach in 2011.  If the opportunity arises, we are prepared to expand the number of Angel tree families.  A special thanks goes out to all contributors who opened their hearts and made this possible. As long as we have troops standing on America’s frontlines to secure our way of life and the safety of our families, while leaving their own loved ones behind, we will continue this project.  But we need your support!  See Photos of our 2010 Military Families on our Photos Page!

GIFT BAGS TO THE WOMEN’S SHELTER:  Hotel miniatures of shampoo, soaps, etc., are collected by our members and donated to the local Circle of Hope family shelter.  Such a small thing touches these women (and their families) in ways mere words cannot express.  At a time when they might feel forgotten, it tells them that we care.  In 2010, the CNRWF donated 18 bags of items that were made into individual Personal Care Bags for the Circle of Hope, as well as 15 bags that were made into Personal Care Bags for Child Protective Services. To donate items or offer other support, please contact Rita Sandor.

CONSTITUTIONS TO 8th & 11th GRADERS- CNRWF delivered 5,000 pocket Constitutions to all 5th graders in the Corona Norco School District in the 2010/2011 School year. Our goal is to raise money for this necessary cause. We have plans to continue this endeavor next year to provide Constitutions to the 8th & 11th graders for 2011!

If you have a personal story regarding how this project has affected your family - please share it with us on our "Contact Us" Page.

VOTER REGISTRATION- One of the primary goals of the CNRWF is to increase citizen involvement in the democratic process.  One way to increase involvement is by registering people to vote. Volunteers are needed to assist in our continuing effort. Contact Us for more information how you can help achieve our goal to increase voter registration in our community.
